As some of you know, GuildFTPd v1.0 Beta was supposed to be released yesterday.
Unfortunately, I have no idea what has happened to this plan. Nitro had plenty of time to get it ready, but he seems to have disappeared. His IM programs are still online, however he has not responded to IMs in over a week. This really isn't all that abnormal, it always takes several days to get ahold of him. However, this time he's gone and missed his promise to release a sample of the new GuildFTPd.
I tried very hard the last few days to get a responce from him, but here I am with nothing to tell everyone. I apologize for the broken promise, and wish there was more I could do, but Nitro is the soul developer of GuildFTPd, and as such, is the only one who has control over releases.
I try to understand that Nitro is often very busy, he has a full time job, runs an apartment complex, and owns a business, as well as having a social life, so I try not to get too upset over how long GuildFTPd v1.0 has been taking. However, this time he had plenty of time, and has repeatedly said how well the project had been coming along... so I feel rather cheated myself.

So with ShadowDrakken gone, is anyone going to post 1.0?
Jesper, have you heard anything from Nitro?

Well, this was a shock to me. Like I said in my previous post... I have not given up on GuildFTPd... my life has just been so busy lately, that I have not had the time to continue my hobby of programming. I am however, getting back into it lately and it's coming along nicely. So just wait and see!
By the way, I hope Drakken re-joins the team, but I understand his decision as it has been very difficult to get a hold of me, what with me not having internet at my new house and all. |

| Can I get a look at the latest version? I'd very much like to see if there's anything I can offer for the 1.0 release. |

given the promise shown by this great project and the seemingly perpetual delay in releasing v1.0, when will it be appropriate to begin discussing a reversal of this policy? |

unfortunately, it's just not possible... when Nitro took over the project from the original author, one of the stipulations in the agreement was that it had to remain a closed project
v1.0 is still morally under this stipulation, despite the new codebase |

| ahh, i see. so a change in project name or a release from this obligation from the original author would do the trick? |

| I think Nitro would only accept a release from the original author, I don't think even changing the name would release the moral obligation |

Is the project lacking developers? |

then this must mean that given this, in additional with the new code base, what nitro really agreed to was not to work on ANY ftp software project while being the guildftpd developer.
so then what needs to happen is nitro's leaving the guildftpd project to start a new ftp software project. say, osGuildftpd?
of course this is all just speculation until we know the stipulations nitro agreed to whence taking over the current project from its previous developer.
*cue a clarification from nitro* |

| So what's the delay in releasing 1.0 this time? Didn't Nitro say that he was working on it again? Should we just give up hope of ever seeing this new version? Is there a possibility of at least getting the beta? |
